HeyContacts (“we”, “our”, or “us”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your information. This Privacy Policy explains what data is processed when you use the HeyContacts mobile application.

2. Information We Process
HeyContacts is built to keep personal relationship data under your control. Depending on how you use the app, we may process:
A) Information you add in the app
Contact cards and profile details you create or edit (for example: name, title, relationship circle, notes, reminders/dates, gifts, and photos).
Optional content you import from your device contacts, if you grant permission.
B) Permission-based data access
Contacts permission: used to import contacts and optionally save contacts to your Apple Contacts.
Notifications permission: used to deliver reminder notifications.
Photo Library (Add Only) permission: used only when you choose to save a photo from the app to your photo library.
C) Technical and usage data
Limited app usage analytics and diagnostics (such as screen/feature usage, app version, OS version, and device type) to improve performance and stability.
Analytics is configured to avoid sending direct personal data such as names, phone numbers, emails, addresses, and note text.

We use data to:
Provide core app features.
Save and display your contacts and related entries.
Schedule and deliver reminders.
Enable optional import/export actions you request.
Improve app quality, reliability, and user experience.
Maintain security and prevent misuse.
4. Data Storage, iCloud Backup, and Sync
Your app data is stored on your device.
HeyContacts supports Apple iCloud-based backup/restore of app snapshots.
Backup snapshots are encrypted before being written to iCloud.
HeyContacts also supports CloudKit sync when available and correctly configured.
If iCloud/CloudKit is unavailable, the app may temporarily operate with local-only storage until iCloud becomes available again.
We do not operate our own standalone server database for your full contact content (contacts/notes/photos/gifts/reminders).
5. Analytics
HeyContacts may use PostHog for privacy-focused product analytics.
Analytics is used to understand app behavior and improve the product.
No advertising tracking is performed.
We do not sell analytics data.
Analytics data is pseudonymous and limited to product/technical context.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data.
We may share limited data only with:
Apple platform services (such as iCloud, CloudKit, Apple Contacts, and Apple Push Notification services) to deliver requested app functionality.
Analytics provider (PostHog) for product analytics and diagnostics.
Legal authorities where required by applicable law.
7. Data Retention
Data you create is retained until you delete it, restore over it, or remove the app.
iCloud backups are retained in your iCloud environment according to Apple account/storage behavior and your actions.
You can remove data from within the app and/or uninstall the app.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption mechanisms for backup data and secure OS-provided storage capabilities (such as Keychain and Apple platform protections).
No system can guarantee absolute security.
9. Children’s Privacy
HeyContacts is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.
10. International Data Processing
Depending on your region and selected Apple/analytics services, limited technical data may be processed outside your country. We use service providers that apply standard security safeguards.
11. Your Choices
You can:
Revoke Contacts/Notifications/Photo permissions anytime in iOS Settings.
Delete data inside the app.
Uninstall the app to remove local app data from the device.
Manage iCloud settings from your Apple account/device settings.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by a new “Last Updated” date. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the revised policy.
